Instagram memorializes deceased persons account after they’ve passed away
Do you know Instagram memorializes a deceased person’s account?
You can see the word Remembering on Sushant Singh Rajput’s or Irffan Khan Instagram profile next to their names.
According to the Photo-sharing app Instagram, “Memorialized accounts are a place to remember someone’s life after they’ve passed away.”
Memorialized accounts on Instagram have the following key features:
– No one can log into a memorialized account.
– Posts the deceased person shared, including photos and videos, stay on Instagram and are visible to the audience they were shared with.
– Once memorialized, no one will be able to make changes to any of the account’s existing posts or information.
Another option is if you are an immediate family member of the deceased, you can request the removal of their Instagram account (wherein you’ll need to provide the proof that you’re an immediate family member).
Instagram was working on this for quite some time and in the light of the COVID-19 pandemic, they accelerated this feature to help support the community during such a difficult time.
